Middlesbrough striker Bilal Brahimi has turned down the offer of a new contract at the Riverside Stadium, and will instead will return to his native France, the Championship club have confirmed.

Brahimi made the move to 'Boro's academy from Portuguese Leixoes two years ago, and went onto make a single senior appearance for the North East club, when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Rochdale in the second round of the EFL Cup last August.

Although Brahimi's next destination was not confirmed by Middlesbrough, French top-flight side Stade de Reims have announced that they have completed the signing of Brahimi, with 'Boro set to receive compensation for the 19-year-old.

Given 'Boro have so far made just one signing in the summer transfer window - with goalkeeper Tomas Mejias the only player to join the club -  some Middlesbrough fans were keen to express their concerns about a lack of playing options at the Riverside Stadium as they took to Twitter to react to news of the latest departure from the club.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
