Steve Bruce is poised to take-up the managerial reigns at Hillsborough, according to a report in the Sun on Sunday (30 December, Page 57) and he will have money to spend in the January transfer window, as the Owls look to get back into the Championship promotion mix.

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejhon Chansiri will make funds available to Bruce to purchase a centre-half, striker and full-back, that are on top of the Owls' wanted list.

So will the arrival of Bruce with money to spend, spell good news for the Owls?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

Definitely.

Bruce got an incredibly harsh press during his final months with Aston Villa and whilst it was probably time for him to go, he still did pretty well there on the whole.

He is a proven Championship manager and that is all Wednesday will have wanted.

Jacob Potter

This is exciting news.

Bruce will need funds to strengthen the squad if they are to mount an unlikely promotion charge in 2019.

If he can be given the money needed, then they could finish in the top six by the end of this season.

George Harbey

Bruce is exactly what Wednesday need.

His spell at Villa May have turned sour in the latter stages of his tenure, but he’s a vastly experienced manager who has been successful at this level before.

He’ll turn them around.

Alfie Burns

It’s a good option for the Owls.

Bruce is an experienced manager that will steady the ship at Hillsborough.

Add to that, money is available and it looks even better.

Bruce will want to spend.
