Stoke City will honour the life of former goalkeeper and World Cup winner Gordon Banks this weekend with a commemorative kit to be work by Jack Butland.

Nathan Jones’ men host Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon in their first home game since the passing of the legendary stopper.

To remember Banks, the club announced via Twitter that there will be a special, one-off strip to be worn by the Potters’ current number one.

The kit will be without the club badge, sponsor, player name on the back or manufacturer insignia.

Instead, it will be plain white in the shorts and the socks, with the distinctive green jersey Banks adorned during his time at the club.

It is a gesture that has been given significant backing by the Stoke supporters ahead of the match.

And with that, here’s what they’ve had to say on Twitter after the classy reveal from the Championship side.
