It's is all change at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho being swiftly appointed their new head coach, following the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino after five-and-a-half years in the post.

This change at the top at Spurs could have a knock-on effect for those players currently out on loan and calls into question the situation Jack Clarke finds himself in at Leeds United, where he has struggled to gain first-team minutes under Marcelo Bielsa.

So will the appointment of Mourinho have any affect on Clarke's situation?

We discuss........

Kris Smith

“I doubt it will affect his situation that much because the writing is more or less on the wall for Clarke’s loan spell at Leeds.

“Having not played a minute of league football so far this season and looking no closer to doing so, it seems as if Clarke will surely be recalled in January, regardless of the manager at his parent club.

“Mourinho’s appointment could in-fact speed up the process if he sets out his priorities as Tottenham manager early, with Clarke’s ongoing troubles needing resolving before long.

“The one thing that is certain is that it would be a miracle to see Clarke stay at Leeds beyond January, and it would be a poor move for all parties.

“Leeds have a loan player in their squad who is pointless to the first-team at the moment, Clarke’s development is stalling, and Spurs aren’t benefiting from him being at Elland Road."

Ned Holmes

"This is an interesting one.

"I can't see Mourinho looking to use Clarke as part of his first-team squad but he may look to recall him in January.

"The close relationship between Marcelo Bielsa and Mauricio Pochettino would likely have made Spurs stance on the teenager's loan more relaxed, so following his exit I do think it's more likely the winger will be recalled.

"The Whites haven't needed him so far but following their late-season slump in form in the 2018/19 campaign they may need the squad depth."

“When you consider that Clarke has struggled to make any inroads of Leeds’ starting eleven this season, it would be a shock if Mourinho didn’t recall him in January.

“Loaned out by Spurs in the summer, the teenager would have been hoping to play regularly for the Whites under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.

“However, with the likes of Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez all ahead of him in the pecking order at Elland Road, Clarke has been limited to just two appearances in all competitions.

“In order to prevent the winger’s development from stagnating, Tottenham ought to consider bringing him back to North London in January before loaning him out to a team who are willing to play him week-in, week-out.”
