Bolton Wanderers are facing up to life in League One next season following relegation, with the added hindrance of a 12 point penalty imposed on them, having fallen into administration following a catalogue of off-the-field issues.

Against this unsettling back-drop it is of no surprise that a host of clubs are queuing up to snap-up their one of their most talented young players, with Rangers joining the race to sign Trotters starlet Luca Connell, according to the Daily Mail.

Rangers join Norwich City, Southampton and Preston in the hunt for the 18-year-old midfielder who made 10 appearances for Phil Parkinson's side this season.

So would Connell prove a good signing for Rangers?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"This is an interesting one.

"Connell has been one of the bright sparks of Bolton's season, but that isn't really saying much given what else has gone on at the club.

"It may only be when he moves to a side such as Rangers - where more is expected of him and the quality of teammates is higher - that we see what he is really all about."

Gary Hutchinson

“I suppose the days of Rangers being one of the biggest clubs in Europe is gone.

“I remember them challenging for the European Cup.

“Nowadays they’re looking at lower league English players, but that’s evolution.

“I think Connell would do well up there.”

Jacob Potter

"A player with a bright future ahead of him, that’s for sure.

"Connell has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing season on and off the pitch at Bolton this year.

"He’s more than capable of adjusting to the demands of a higher level of football and he could thrive under the guidance of Steven Gerrard at Rangers."
