‘This is an absolute no-brainer’ – Leeds United eye commanding 25-year-old deal: The verdict

Leeds United are interested in signing Vitoria Setubal defender Frederico Venancio this summer, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, reports Portuguese newspaper A BOLA.

Would this be a good signing for the Whites?

We discuss….

Alfie Burns

He’d be a great addition to Leeds’ squad.

The defender impressed me during his year at Hillsborough, particularly after Christmas.

At just £800k, so many Championship clubs should be rivalling Sheffield Wednesday here.

Leeds would benefit if he arrived.

Jay Williams

Leeds fans will be dreaming of Marcelo Bielsa’s 3-3-3-1 formation with a back-three of Venancio, Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson.

The Portuguese defender has already proven his talents in the Championship and he is still relatively young and still improving.

At a reported price of £800k, this is an absolute no-brainer.

Chris Gallagher

It could be a smart signing.

The price suggested for the defender makes him a bit of a bargain and he will have benefited hugely from a season in England already.

Leeds need at least one centre-back so this would be a good deal.

Ben Barkworth

Venancio performed well for Wednesday last season and he would certainly improve Leeds’ defence.
