Notts County's start to life in League Two did not go to plan in 2015-16.

Despite a plethora of reputable signings in the summer, the likes of Jon Stead and Izale McLeod joining a squad that already consisted of Alan Smith and Roy Carroll, the Magpies were sitting in 15th place halfway through the League Two campaign.

After a 2-2 draw at home to Morecambe, County boss Ricardo Moniz was relieved his duties - with the club under performing in mid-table and conceding a staggering 40 goals in the league before the turn of the year.

There were many names linked with the role, with Magpies fans hoping that they could ditch the European approach adopted when hiring Moniz, and appoint an experienced, successful head at League Two level.

Then, in a shocking turn of events, the Magpies appointed former Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers youth coach Jamie Fullarton - a man who had no experience of management whatsoever in his career.

It's fair to say, Notts fans were not happy in the slightest...

Fullarton went onto win three of his opening five league games in charge of the Magpies, somewhat silencing his critics for a few weeks.

A dismal run of form then followed - County lost six of their next seven league games, and failed to score in three successive home games as Notts slumped further and further down the League Two table.

It was a 4-1 home defeat to Exeter City that brought the curtain down on Fullarton's first stint in management, and was sacked just two months after being appointed as the club's manager, winning 3 out of 12 games.

Fullarton is now managing FC Halifax Town in the National League with the Shaymen currently sitting in 13th in the table, however this appointment at Meadow Lane will go down as one of the worst in the club's long, long history.
