Football League World's Swansea City fan pundit Jacob Bellayuto says the signing of FC Basel striker Aldo Kalulu to replace Oli McBurnie is one that excites him.

McBurnie's move to Sheffield United was confirmed last week and with the Swans confirming that that the 23-year-old Frenchman had signed on a season-long loan on Monday.

"I think this is a very exciting signing and will be welcome news to Swansea fans," the Regular Punter told Football League World.

"He is a younger player with potential, fitting the mould we have been forming at the club, and he also plays a different game to Borja Baston.

"He is much shorter than the Spaniard but provides much more pace to get in behind the defence and I believe that having both styles as options is very useful and can change the momentum of a game depending on the situation."

Last season saw McBurnie net 22 goals in 42 Championship appearances for the Swans so it will be a tought task for whoever is chosen to replace him.

But with Borja Baston leading the line well for Swansea against Hull City on the opening weekend of the campaign, and with Kalulu failing to score for the Swiss side last season, Bellayuto is not convinced the new man should be first-choice.

"I think Steve Cooper showed us over the weekend that Baston will be in his plans and be the starting striker," he said.

"I also believe that he should continue to be the top option even after the addition of Kalulu.

"He plays a game more similar to McBurnie and I think he can fill Oli’s shoes relatively well.

"Putting Kalulu in would require at least a slight change in a system that I feel is working at the moment. He also was not very consistent or a proven goal-scorer at Basel last year, so banking on him as our top striker is a risky move."

However, although the fan pundit remains positive about the arrival of Kalulu, he cannot help but feel that they could have brought in a stronger option.

"I would prefer a young player who has a decent record of consistent goal-scoring," he said.

"Someone like Cauley Woodrow comes to mind with his 19 goals last year for Barnsley.

"The problem here would be Barnsley’s probable stubbornness over the fee and the fact that Swansea don’t really want to spend money even after the sale of McBurnie."
