Three months after joining Leeds United on loan from Chelsea, attacking midfielder Izzy Brown has finally made his debut in an U23 match against Birmingham City having recovered from a long-term injury that had ruled him out for most of last season.

Brown last played competitively back in January when he lasted just six minutes of Brighton’s FA Cup tie with Crystal Palace and missed the rest of the 2017/18 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

With a return to match fitness in sight, when should Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa look to risk Brown in the first team?

This is a tough one, as Leeds could do with the boost of Brown returning.

However, the player needs to come first in this situation and Leeds need to be managing the 21-year-old carefully.

Minutes with the under-23s is the sensible thing to do, with a view of Brown playing a part over the festive period.

There’s a case that he could be played with some players struggling for form.

The likes if Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski have been off the boil in recent weeks and Kemar Roofe in attack has struggled for form since his return from injury.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side host Bristol City this weekend and it could be the perfect time to introduce Izzy Brown to the Elland Road faithful.

Over Christmas.

He isn't ready just yet but surely will be in the coming weeks.

With the festive period coming up then could be a fine time for him to come in and help out.
