QPR manager Mark Warburton has added some experience to his squad with the signing of 32-year-old former Bournemouth midfielder Marc Pugh, as confirmed on the club website.

Pugh, 32, has joined on an initial 12-month deal after ending a nine-year spell at Bournemouth, during which time he won promotion to the Premier League, with R's boss Mark Warburton saying to the club's media team: "Marc has quality and experience. He'll add so much to the squad on and off the pitch,"

So will Pugh prove a good addition at Loftus Road and will he start?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"I think he could be a decent signing for sure.

"Pugh has got plenty to offer at this level and proved a pretty shrewd signing for Hull City last season.

"He works hard and can provide quality in a number of different roles whilst he's come to QPR without them needing to break the bank.

"Personally, I think he's exactly the sort of signing QPR need to be making and I do expect them to have a decent campaign this year.

"A play-off challenge might be a tough ask but with a bit of luck you cannot rule it out - I do like a lot of what they've done this summer."

George Brooks

"This is a solid addition.

"Pugh is a good player and he's got plenty of experience in the Championship. He will provide QPR with some more depth and experience in midfield.

"He was a key player when Bournemouth won promotion to the Premier League in 2014/15 and will be determined to prove himself following his release from Eddie Howe's side.

"Pugh is probably past his best but he's still more than capable of making an impact in the Championship, as he showed while on loan at Hull last season. I'm not sure if he will start every week but he's certainly a good player for Mark Warburton to have in his squad."

Gary Hutchinson

“This is an interesting one for me. Pugh didn’t do badly at Hull City last season, but he’s coming towards the tail end of his career.

“I’m not sure he’ll start every week. He’s got a good pedigree and his experience will be of use to QPR, but will his fitness allow him to play 3o or more league matches?

“The last time he played more than 30 in all competitions was 2014/15; that is a sign of fitness decline if not of ability loss.

“He’s got plenty to offer, he was amongst the goals for Hull and his recent top flight experience has capped off a career that threatened to remain in the Football League, but he’s surely not going to be a key player this season.”
