Chelsea are lining up a bold £30 million bid for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, with the Blues prepared to loan him back to Villa for the 18/19 season, according to Teamtalk.

Would the 22-year-old playmaker be a good signing for the west London outfit? Is £30m a fair sum of money for him?

We discuss....

Jay Williams

Grealish is one of the most talented prospects outside of the Premier League and he is likely to become an England regular if he continues to develop at the rate he is currently going.

But he is far from the finished article and his game needs a lot of refining, including better end product.

Chelsea will be looking at him as a long-term project and hoping that they can get him consistently dancing around players like he has been doing but with more goals and assists to his name.

George Dagless

Grealish needs to be careful.

He's a top player and I have no doubt he can get to the level of the top six in the top flight but Chelsea are notorious for spoiling careers.

He's a great young player who could really succeed next season for the right club but he has to be playing regularly - are Chelsea going to offer him that?

He'd be better off at Tottenham or Everton.

Ben Barkworth

Grealish is a talented player, but £30m is a large amount for him based on recent seasons.

However, he could easily make that look a bargain if he lives up to his potential. This is a risky move, but also exciting.

Alfie Burns

This would be a great move for Grealish, but he needs to be making sure Chelsea will give him a first-team chance.

So many players in recent years have made the move to Stamford Bridge and not featured - Grealish will not want to be one of those.

For me, he is good enough to make the grade at Chelsea and it could be the place that finally helps him reach his potential.

However, he has to seek assurances that he will be given a chance to shine.
