Sunderland head into a League One clash this weekend with second placed Luton, where both sides will be looking to close the gap on league leaders Portsmouth.
Sunderland manager Jack Ross though has more than just this match on his mind, as the on-going contract saga of striker Josh Maja, rumbles on, with the 20-year-old mulling over the Black Cats' latest contract offer.
So with no progress on Maja's contract, has the time come to cash in on the player?
We discuss.....
Louie Chandler
"It is for me.
"Maja is obviously a great talent but in this newly formed Sunderland set-up, they cannot afford to make the same mistakes of the past.
"If a player, or his agent, is causing trouble and does not want to play for the club, then move them on."
Gary Hutchinson
“Yes.
“If he’s going to walk away for free, get him sold.
“Do they need the money? Maybe, maybe not. That’s irrelevant.
“Ultimately, this is a battle in which there’s a lot at stake, including the club’s dignity. They have to show no player is bigger, or better than them.”
Alfie Burns
“This is a really tough one.
“Maja has been terrific and he will score goals over the course of the rest of the season, which could well seal promotion.
“However, if he was to leave in the summer for free, it would be frustrating.”
Jay Taylor
“It’s hard to say.
“Maja is a key part of Sunderland’s promotion chances and losing him now could be catastrophic.
“I think his agent has got in his ear a little and that is never a good thing.
“Once the window shuts, it could be a different story, so it remains to be seen for now.”
