Derby County manager Gary Rowett revealed in his press conference this morning, that winger Johnny Russell is looking to push through a move to the MLS.

Russell, 27, has not always been a regular starter for the Rams this season, and it seems that the Scottish star wants to quit Pride Park to move to America.

Is Russell making the right decision? Is this a blow for Derby?

We discuss....

This is a real surprise.

Russell has the chance of earning promotion to the Premier League this season but evidently sees his future away from the Rams.

He's perhaps not been as regular a starter as he'd like this season and there's clearly a good offer waiting for him in the US.

Sam Preston

Why?

It seems an odd one but moving to America must be an appealing lifestyle choice.

There are some quality players there now and the way of life is so different to England.

Russell could well become a Premier League player in May and it seems odd that he is keen to turn his back on that, mind you.

Chris Gallagher

If it's what the player wants it's best to let him go if a replacement is secured.

It's surprising that Russell is keen on moving given Derby's position and he is an important player.

But obviously the prospect of America is appealing at this stage and as long as Derby get cover then he should go.
