West Brom head back into action following the international break, with a trip to Championship basement side Ipswich Town next up for Darren Moore's side.

But whilst Moore will be fully focused on preparing for this match, he knows he also has to move swiftly if he wishes to tie down young midfielder Rekeem Harper who is out of contract in the summer, though the Baggies are keen on securing a deal for him, according to a report in the Express & Star.

Moore is known to be a fan of Harper and with Rangers keen to take the player to the SPFL on loan, or as part of a deal for James Tavernier to move to the Hawthorns, he will need to get a new deal in front of the player as a priority.

But does Harper deserve a new deal at the Hawthorns?

It's worth doing.

He's obviously highly thought of and West Brom would rather keep him.

Try and tie him down before the big clubs start sniffing in earnest.

Jay Taylor

He’s highly rated at the Hawthorns and has managed to make a Championship appearance this term.

With news of Rangers’ interest - it could force their hand if they want to keep him.

Offering a new deal may have been in the pipeline but further down the road after January or even in the summer, but now with they might have to lay out terms.

Deserve is a strong word having barely played in the first-team, I think it’s more to safeguard the potential profit and future of the youngster.

The Baggies need to tie down their best young talent to new deals, and this is a no brainer.

He's clearly got very high potential and Moore needs to ensure this deal gets done, otherwise other suitors will surely start sniffing.
