West Brom look set to sign Bakary Sako, with the winger expected to sign a short-term contract with Darren Moore’s side.

The 30-year-old is a free agent after ending his three-year spell at Crystal Palace, with it looking like the Mali international will be stepping back into the EFL to link up with Albion, according to reliable journalist Tim Nash.

Sako made a name for himself in English football at Wolves, with the explosive winger making over 100 appearances in old gold.

Now, he is set to make the move to the Hawthorns.

Our FLW writers discuss if this is a good signing for the Baggies…

Gary Hutchinson

I'm quite surprised by this. It isn't as though the Baggies are struggling for firepower is it?

They've got a frightening array of forwards - genuinely the goals could and will come from anywhere.

It's a great signing for anyone at this level, but if any team really didn't need Sako, it was West Brom.

Alfie Burns

This is a major coup for the Baggies.

I’m surprised Sako wasn’t snapped up earlier, as he is a quality player who would add a lot to any squad at this level.

If he can replicate the form he showed at Wolves, West Brom will be laughing.

Chris Gallagher

This is a great signing - providing he stays fit.

At his best he is a real powerhouse, he can beat players with ease, has a fine left-foot and will contribute with goals and assists.

On a short-term deal it makes sense for West Brom and he could become a key player for Darren Moore in their promotion push.
