Leeds United transfer target Matej Vydra is holding out for a move to the Premier League, according to the Sun.

The lethal Derby County striker has been linked with a switch to Elland Road all summer, but it now seems a deal is looking harder to attain for the Whites, with the Czech Republic frontman eyeing the top-flight.

How bad is this news for Leeds?

We discuss...

Jay Williams

Leeds were already looking unlikely to sign Vydra and this is a killer blow, really.

After such a lengthy pursuit, it is disappointing to end in no deal.

But it means that Bielsa must immediately start scouring the market for other targets - could he return for Abel Hernandez?

Jay Taylor

It could be bad news for them as apart from Abel Hernandez, Matej Vydra has been the only striker Leeds have been heavily linked with.

The Czech wants a Premier League move but, in all honestly, the Championship is his level.

Having played for West Brom in the top flight, he struggled to make an impact but managed 22 goals in the Championship.

It would be bad news for Leeds but they would be a better fit as there aren’t many sides, other than the Promoted ones that would suit the striker.

One way or another, Vydra will be in the Championship this season or next.

Gary Hutchinson

That depends, if they're still chasing him then yes I suppose it is.

I thought this ship had sailed and if I were Bielsa I'd look elsewhere.

He shouldn't be signing players who consider the club a booby prize when they don't get a PL move.

Christian Fuller

Costing just £11m, I feel that this could be the end of the ties between Leeds and the Czech Republic international, as a top tier side is bound to come in for the Derby County talisman.

Leeds United are in desperate need of a new striker to bolster their attacking options, but putting all their eggs in one basket for Vydra might not be the best idea.
