West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is keen to tie a couple of his youngsters down to long-term deals, with the Baggies in talks with Kyle Edwards and Rayhaan Tulloch, according to the Express & Star.

Edwards, 21, has had considerable first-team experience this season and has impressed, while Tulloch, 19, has mainly starred for the Albion U23 side, only making first-team appearances in the FA Cup so far this campaign, despite his impressive performances for the youth side.

So are the Baggies making the right call to tie the duo down to new long-term deals?

Josh Cole

“This would be a shrewd bit of business by West Brom if they can convince Edwards and Tulloch to commit their long-term futures to the club.

“Whilst Edwards has featured regularly for the Baggies this season, Tulloch’s only appearances for the club have come in the FA Cup.

“Both blessed with an abundance of talent, keeping this duo at the Hawthorns would send a strong message out to their other academy products who have seen the likes of Louie Barry and Yan Dhanda depart in recent years.

“Providing that Bilic is willing to incorporate Edwards and Tulloch into his long-term plans at the Hawthorns, there is no reason why these two players cannot go on to achieve a relative amount of success with West Brom.”

"I think this would be an excellent move from West Brom to tie Tulloch and Edwards down to new deals and secure their long-term futures at the Hawthorns.

"Tulloch looks to be a really exciting young player who has been in impressive form for the under-23s in the Premier League 2 this season, and it speaks volumes of how good he is after recent links to the likes of Manchester United.

"I have been really impressed with Edwards this season when he's come into the team in the absence of Grady Diangana - he isn't afraid to take his man on and he works really hard for the team, and he deserves to be rewarded with a new contract.

"They need to secure these youngsters' futures to avoid another saga like the Nathan Ferguson situation, as it could come back to bite them in the long run."

Chris Thorpe

“This is a good move by Albion as they seek to secure the futures of two of their most talented youngsters.

“By getting the duo to sign new long term deals, the Baggies are essentially avoiding another repeat of what’s currently happening with Nathan Ferguson.

“Edwards and Tulloch are capable of potentially nailing down more regular spots at first team level over the next few seasons so this represents a good bit of business for Slaven Bilic.

“Meanwhile, it also means that the club will get a healthy profit if one or both of the players decide to pursue a move away from the Hawthorns.”
