Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic is a doubt for the trip to Stoke City this weekend, with manager Dean Smith revealing in his recent press conference that the Croatian international is in concussion protocol.

Kalinic was forced off last Saturday at half-time in the derby defeat to West Brom following a clash with Jake Livermore and will be assessed today as to whether he can play this weekend.

So how big a worry would the loss of Kalinic be for Villa?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"Not particularly.

"Obviously it is not ideal for Villa to have a goalkeeper sidelined, but from what I have seen Kalinic is not much of an upgrade on others at the club.

"Giving others an opportunity might end up working in their favour."

Jacob Potter

"This is a frustrating for Smith - They need him available.

"Villa are already short on first-team options between the sticks, and Kalinic is a crucial member of this squad.

"If he isn’t fit enough for this one, then they’re in trouble against a Stoke side that have a good amount of attacking quality in their side."

Gary Hutchinson

“I don’t think so.

“Jed Steer is a decent keeper and in my eyes, good enough for the Championship.

“It’s not the worst trouble to befall Villa this season.”

Jay Taylor

“Jed Steer is a more than competent replacement goalkeeper, if you ask me.

“So, I don’t think they should be worried.

“Kalinic has hardly pulled up any trees since his arrival at the club so a change between the sticks isn’t going to hurt them too much.

“Besides, it has been their defence letting them down in recent weeks, not the goalkeeper.”
