Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi has increased his attacking options with the  signing of Huddersfield Town winger Adama Diakhaby on loan until the end of the season, as confirmed on the Forest club website.

The 23-year-old joined the Terriers from Monaco in July 2018 and has gone onto make 18 appearances this season, though he has not featured since November 2019, with the former France U21 international becoming Forest's first January signing.

So do you feel Diakhaby will become a frequent starter following his move to the City Ground?

“This is a difficult one, as Diakhaby has not really been able to establish himself as a key attacking player for Huddersfield during the first half of the campaign, with the winger having undoubted quality but being often guilty of delivering inconsistent performances.

“Lamouchi, though, knows about the qualities that Diakhaby possesses, and will therefore have been sure that he can add an extra dimension to the Reds’ existing wife options, which could make him a very useful addition at the City Ground.

“The winger certainly offers more pace to stretch opposing defences down the flanks than some of the Reds other options, but both Sammy Ameobi and Joe Lolley have been delivering strong performances over the last few matches for Forest, so it will be a challenge for him to force his way into the side.

“You would imagine he will start out on the bench, and Lamouchi will look to bring him onto stretch opposing defences when they are tiring, and that could prove to a very useful weapon for the Reds to use in the closing stages of their games over the next few weeks.”

“Having failed to make an appearance in the Championship since November, it may take Diakhaby some time to adjust to his new surroundings.

“Blessed with an abundance of pace, it could be argued that the Reds ought to consider utilising him as an impact substitute in the coming weeks in order to build his match fitness.

“Whilst Diakhaby will have to produce some special performances to overtake Joe Lolley in Forest’s pecking order, he may be able to make the other wide role his own by displacing Sammy Ameobi in Sabri Lamouchi’s starting eleven.

“Providing that he is able to make a positive start to life at the City Ground, the Frenchman could emerge as a pivotal player in the club’s push for automatic promotion.”

George Harbey

"It's a tough question as Forest's wingers have been impressive this season - Joe Lolley is starting to come into his own, Albert Adomah always looks a threat, whilst Sammy Ameobi is clearly a favourite of Lamouchi given that he has featured in every single Championship game this season.

"Diakhaby is obviously a really exciting talent - things didn't really work out for him at Huddersfield Town due to various reasons, but he will be determined to prove his critics wrong during his time at the City Ground.

"I can see him being used as a substitute in the first few games of his career at Forest just to ease him into things and so he can get to grips with their style of play, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as he could cause some real problems with his blistering pace when he comes on late on.

"There has been talk about Diakhaby being used as a striker, too, but I cannot see that happening. I think he has been brought in to play solely out wide, but it is always good to have that option."
