Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder will be pleased to hear that veteran striker Leon Clarke is back in training, as he looks to maintain the Blades great start to the season.

With United planning ahead of their latest fixture away to Bristol City at the weekend, the decision for Wilder is whether to stick with a winning formula or look to tinker with his side.

But does the return of Clarke spell good news for the Blades?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

This is a boost.

He has been a big part of Sheffield United’s success over the past couple of seasons and his partnership with Billy Sharp is one of the most impressive in the division.

Having him back will allow the two to pair up again, although, at current, the Blades are doing well so he will have a job getting back in the team.

Gary Hutchinson

Perhaps. He was their leading scorer.

I just wonder if this season is one too far for him.

He’s 33 now and with Washington and McGoldrick, as well as Billy Sharp, I suspect he’ll find life much tougher.

I don’t think he’s going to score half as many, certainly not from the bench.

George Harbey

It has to be good news for Sheffield United that Clarke is back in training - the striker’s fabulous goal tally almost pushed the Blades into the playoffs singlehandedly.

Whether he can replicate that tally again this season remains to be seen however, but there is no doubt that it is a huge boost to Chris Wilder, whose team has made a flying start this campaign.
