Queens Park Rangers are weighing up a potential transfer move for free-agent Rajiv Van La Parra, as per Dutch media outlet VI.

The 29-year-old is currently a free-agent after his contract with Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade reached a conclusion earlier in the year.

The report suggests that Reading and Swansea are also eyeing the player who has had stints in the EFL with Huddersfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

So, would Van La Parra be a useful addition for Mark Warburton's QPR? Is he needed?

The team here at FLW take a look....

I like the sound of this deal for QPR.

Van La Parra has experience of playing to a high standard in the Championship, having played a starring role for Huddersfield Town in their 2016/17 promotion-winning season.

His career has somewhat stalled since then, and he'll be eager to get back to his best after a disappointing spell with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.

QPR need to sign a player of his creative ability, as I still don't think they've replaced Ebere Eze, who was sold to Crystal Palace earlier in the summer transfer window.

His wage demands might be a slight concern, but if he can repay that by putting in strong performances for QPR, then it will be worth it.

They need to act fast in securing a deal to land his signature though, with Reading and Swansea City likely to fancy their chances of signing him.

This is a bit of a strange one.

Van La Parra never really stood out massively even in the Championship during his time in the division, and it is worth noting that he has played very little football recently.

As a result, you have to wonder just how much of an impact he could make for Mark Warburton’s side, not to mention whether or not he will actually be ready to come into the side any time soon, given his lack of recent match time, and therefore possibly, match fitness.

That being said, his past experience means he could still be a useful squad player to call upon for QPR, and the fact he is a free agent at least reduces the financial risk of this deal for the London club.

I think it could be a smart signing.

It's another QPR-type deal in this window with him available on a free and I think we would see him bring some good quality and knowhow at this level.

You're talking about a player perhaps with a point to prove, too, and I think he fits the squad dynamic at the Kiyan Prince Foundation stadium of hungry young players and more experienced pros eager to show what they can do.

There's some real quality and industry at QPR at the moment and I think on a free Van La Parra is certainly worth a look.
