Leeds United continued their impressive start to the season with the midweek win over Brentford leaving the Whites unbeaten this season, and sitting on top of the Championship at this early stage.

One player though whose time at Elland Road seems to be finally coming to a close is 26-year-old left-back Laurens De Bock, who Football Insider report is close to securing a loan-to-buy move to Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.

Though the clubs agreed the deal, personal terms needed to be finalised but with that now resolved, the move is likely to be confirmed shortly.

So are Leeds right to offload De Bock?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"De Bock isn't close to the same level of Barry Douglas or Ezgjan Alioski and therefore there is little point in keeping him in the current squad.

"Leeds lack numbers in defence but De Bock has never been part of Bielsa's plans so it is the right idea to cash in on him whilst they still can, particularly as it is not good to keep players who will be unhappy.

"He has only played a few games for the club and hasn't met the required standard, but it is a little surprising that he hasn't made improvements to his game by training under Bielsa."

George Brooks

"This is 100% the right decision. De Bock is a decent player, but he's struggled to make an impact for Leeds so far, making just seven appearances for the Whites.

"Leeds have got enough depth at left-back, with Barry Douglas, Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas and Leif Davis capable of playing in that position.

"De Bock spent last season out on loan and has clearly failed to impress Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.

"If he isn't a part of Bielsa's plans for this season, then it makes sense for Leeds to sell him and it will allow the club to trim their wage bill slightly."

Ned Holmes

“Absolutely.

“The Belgian defender has not featured once since Bielsa took charge at Leeds and the manager has done nothing to indicate that was likely to change in the future.

“There are a number of players who appear to have no place in the Argentine coach’s plans and surely the best move would be to offload them before the European transfer window closes.

“The pressure of expectation is high on Leeds this season and it is only likely to increase as May draws closer.

“The last thing the Bielsa and his squad need is to have players around who are not involved and are unlikely to want to be there.”
