This goalscoring midfielder would be a huge upgrade on O’Kane at Leeds United

Leeds United’s season is heading for a mid-table finish, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side having very little to play for during the final three fixtures.

Attention at Elland Road is sure to be turning to the summer transfer window, with it likely that Leeds will be looking to add the necessary talent to challenge higher up the table.

Leeds’ struggles were highlighted last Tuesday evening, when Heckingbottom’s side were defeated 3-1 at Preston North End, despite leading through Kemar Roofe’s goal.

Heckingbottom’s side lost control of the midfield battle, with three second-half goals securing three points for North End, who continue to impress this season.

The scorer of Preston’s third goal was Alan Browne, who is the latest feature of our FLW Spotlight, as we take a look at whether Leeds should launch a summer move for him:

The 23-year-old has bagged five goals in the Championship so far this season from his 41 appearances, also adding a further assist to that tally.

Browne averages two tackles per game and 32.6 passes, which come at a success rate of 70.3% in Preston’s midfield.

The Verdict

Browne has been good in Preston’s midfield this season, scoring goals and becoming a really consistent performer for Alex Neil’s side.

The 23-year-old has shown more consistency than someone like Eunan O’Kane in central midfield this season.

Leeds need to be adding goals to their midfield over the summer and could do far worse than adding Browne, who proved to Heckingbottom last week that he can be a real threat arriving late in the box.
