Leeds United are set for a vital summer as manager Paul Heckingbottom looks to build a squad that is capable of challenging for promotion.

The Whites had hoped to compete for a top six place this season but an alarming drop in form in 2018 saw them finish the season in the bottom half.

That highlighted just how much work Heckingbottom needs to do to his squad in order to get them back near the top of the table.

Whilst there are some good players at the club, the reality is the former Barnsley boss will be looking for at least five players to come straight into the first-team to add more quality to the side.

Arguably the most important position for recruitment is up top, after the club failed to suitably replace Chris Wood's goals after his departure.

Here we look at how Leeds' attack could look in August...

The Spaniard signed a new deal to stay at Elland Road and it was great news for the club.

He is technically superb, creative and is one of few players that played to his potential last season.

Certainly, he was the Whites' best player for 2017/18.

Heckingbottom has to do all he can to get Saiz back showing the form that he displayed after arriving in England.

At his best he was unplayable, capable of beating players, scoring goals and feeding through killer passes. He will be a star man if he finds those levels again.

Leeds are one of several clubs linked with the Swansea man and he would be a great addition.

Whilst he is a forward, he can also do a job on the left and would provide the Whites with a real goal threat from out wide that would be very welcome.

A new number nine has to be the priority and Leeds have been linked with the out-of-contract Hull City man who appears exactly what they need.

Quick, strong and lethal in front of goal, Hernandez has proven himself at this level and would be a real statement signing.
