Things at Sunderland do not appear positive at all at the moment with pretty much every aspect of the club needing improvement.

For sure, fan spirit is low, the players need to be doing better and those running the club have had a number of calamities in recent years to leave them in this mess.

Bottom of the league and without a manager, things are looking glummer than they have for a long time but there remains hope for the Black Cats - if they get the right manager in.

And, with that in mind, we think that one man is perfect for the job - an ex-Premier League boss and a man most recently at Birmingham - Harry Redknapp.

Some Sunderland fans might be sceptical, of course, as it didn't end well for the Blues but Redknapp did keep them up with only a few games to spare and that is all the Black Cats should aim for right now.

What they need, though, is someone to come in and start making the players feel better about themselves - there's some good quality in the squad but an awful lack of confidence and belief to the extent where the players have forgotten how to win - particularly at home.

Redknapp would instill some self-belief, he'd rally the fans and, most of all, he's a good manager so he'd get results. Results good enough, too, to ensure that another relegation doesn't happen and then, just maybe, things can start to look up for the club.
