Matty Cash says he is willing to play anywhere Nottingham Forest manager asks him to slot in just to force his way back into contention for the starting 11, according to the Nottingham Post.

The 20-year-old is yet to feature for Forest so far this season, after suffering ligament damage during a pre-season friendly against Girona in July.

Cash has played centrally, in a midfield role as well as being fielded as a right wing back and has said he will take to the field anywhere the former Rangers manager feels it is best to deploy him.

He said: "I have said it before and I will say it again – I will play in any position for this football club. If I am involved and playing, I am happy. It is a dream come true for me to be playing for Forest.

"If the gaffer wants me to play right-back, left-back, central midfield, as a number 10 or as a striker, whatever – I will do it. I will always give my best, in whatever position I am asked to play."

Speaking more generally about the injury he sustained when he was having a good pre season and the prospect of a brighter campaign under the new ownership regime beckoned, he said: "It was frustrating because I had a good pre-season and I had worked hard to get myself into a good place.

"But that is in the past now, I am back and feeling fitter and stronger every single day and I just have to be patient and ready to take my chance when it comes."

The Verdict:

Cash's words will be music to the ears of Forest fans and are exactly the type of thing any fan would like to hear one of their players say.

He is the kind of player Forest will need to keep hold of if they are to make serious waves in this division any time soon and I am sure it will only be a matter of time before he takes to the pitch again.

I would field him further forward, where his pace and energy can really hurt teams.
