Hull City are in the hunt for Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Remi Matthews, according to Press Association journalist Nick Mashiter.

It is also being reported that Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town are interested in securing the services of Matthews, who was relegated with Bolton last term.

Hull are reportedly keen on Matthews who could rival George Long for the Tigers' number one jersey with David Marshall expected to depart.

The former Norwich goalkeeper made a total of 20 appearances and kept two clean sheets last season, but failed to prevent them from dropping down into League One amid serious financial trouble.

The Trotters will now start next season with a points deduction after going into administration, and it appears Matthews could be one of the players who makes way to raise funds over the summer.

So would this be a good signing for Hull? We discuss...

Toby Wilding

"This feels like a bit of a risk.

"With David Marshall out of contract and attracting interest from elsewhere, Hull are facing the prospect of starting the season without an established 'keeper.

"Given his difficult experiences at Bolton last year, both personally and with the club as a whole, Matthews may not be the most reliable option to take up that role at the KCOM Stadium."

Gary Hutchinson

"Interesting, Matthews might be wise to make this move.

"I could see him breaking through at Hull and they're an odd side.

"They're not relegation fodder, but few see them as a serious top six threat either.

"This would be a great move, especially if he got game time."

Kealan Hughes

"He's not really needed.

"Hull have two great keepers in David Marshall and George Long. It is possible that the former could leave and in that case signing Matthews is more understandable, but he is not yet near the level of Marshall.

"It would not be a good move for Matthews either. Long has not got much game time since joining the Tigers and it would hinder his development if he joined and didn't play."
