Preston North End had adapted to life in the Championship extremely well after promotion through the League One play offs in 2015.

The Lilywhites looked as though they could be in a relegation scrap last year after a poor start to the season, but their form picked up and eventually they looked as though they could sneak into the play offs.

This has been an incredible job done by Simon Grayson, who unsurprisingly has clubs eyeing him up, with the club in an extremely stable condition and only looking up.

Their success has come despite their lack of financial resources, with the clubs around them, like Norwich City, Derby County and Aston Villa all with massive spending power in the transfer window.

It means Grayson has so be quite shrewd with his signings, and one of the moves he should be making this summer is for Joe Ledley.

Ledley, a Welsh international, has found game time hard to come by at Crystal Palace in recent years. He was deemed surplus to requirements this year and was released by the club last month.

It is likely that the 30-year-old would take some convincing to actually join the Deepdale ranks, with clubs like Aston Villa, West Brom and Derby County all eyeing him up.

However, Ledley is coming in to the twilight of his career, and given the options that the three teams above already have, the promise of first team football and being a star player in the side could be enough to reel him in.

This would be a very smart and extremely impressive move from Simon Grayson and this addition to his midfield could make all the difference next year.
