Following their relegation back down to the Championship, after such an incredible season from a personal perspective it was obvious Harry Maguire would try and force a move back to the Premiership in a bid to obtain his first ever England call-up.

However, the departure of Maguire has left a massive hole in Hull City's squad and with his centre-back partner of the second half of last term, Andrea Ranocchia, also returning back to his parent club Inter Milan after an impressive loan spell, the Tigers have been left without their first choice centre-backs of last campaign.

Subsequently, with new manager Leonid Slutsky being appointed in charge, he must make his priority bringing in a few dominant centre-backs to especially replace Maguire.

Sheffield Wednesday's Tom Lees, who is valued at £3.83m on transfermarkt, would be a fantastic replacement for the former Sheffield United defender, and would certainly bolster their chances of regaining Premiership status.

Lees has been a pivotal element of Wednesday's defense for the past three seasons, since joining from Leeds United, and has developed into a strong and reliable leader, which Hull could definitely benefit from.

The 26-year-old has plenty of Championship experience, making over 200 appearances for the Owls and Whites combined, and can also flaunt six England u21 caps during the Stuart Pearce era.

The only thing holding Slutsky back from signing the Englishmen would be the Owls' asking price, as he is very highly valued by the staff and fans at Hillsborough. However, with Maguire being sold for a fee around £12m to Leicester, Hull have a good amount of money to work around and if Lee's didn't want to join the East Riding of Yorkshire club, could be easily persuaded with a decent wage.

On the other hand, after missing out on promotion to the Premiership two consecutive seasons with the Owls, the centre-back may be open with a fresh challenge, which may intrigue him to join Slutsky's side.
