January loanees Adam Armstrong and Jack Payne have seamlessly fitted into the first-team.

Tony Mowbray opted to bring in Armstrong from Newcastle and Payne from Huddersfield on loans in order to add firepower to his team in the forward areas, and they have already repaid his faith substantially.

At 21-years-old and 23-years-old they are the ideal kind of players to bring in and spark a promotion push going into the end of the season due to the desire to prove themselves and impress their parent clubs.

Armstrong has scored four goals in eight games while Payne has had more of an indirect contribution, due to to being an attacking midfielder rather than a striker, but he already has one assist to his name.

The best part about these contributions is the games they have come in, though. Payne's sole assist was for the winner against Fleetwood Town on his debut.

Armstrong's goals have directly provided Blackburn with four points; his first goal was the equaliser against Oldham and he also scored both goals against Portsmouth in their 2-1 victory. His fourth goal for the club secured victory against Bury although they would have still won that game without it.

Their promising performances have resulted in Mowbray trusting them more which means that they have been given starts and it has allowed him to rest some of his key players such as Danny Graham. Mowbray now has genuine game-changers who can come off the bench in key matches, which will be important in maintaining their attempts to finish in the automatic promotion spots.

Blackburn are also boosted by the return of Leeds loanee Marcus Antonsson from injury, so they are in a promising place as the season reaches the latter stages.
