Stoke City lost the first game of their pre-season tour of Germany last night, succumbing 2-0 to Bundesliga II side VFL Bochum.

Having already beaten Macclesfield and Walsall this pre-season, it was the first defeat of Gary Rowett's tenure as manager, albeit in a meaningless friendly match.

It was Bochum's fifth friendly, they reported back from pre-season training a week earlier than stoke and the game lost all shape on the 70 minute mark with a raft of changes for the Potters.

Despite that, some fans have still take to twitter to express their disgust at the result, claiming it is ridiculous and doesn't bode well at all for the upcoming season.

Their mood might not be helped by the recent relegation from the top flight, nor the presence of many players who helped them to the drop in the current squad.

However, a 2-0 defeat in a foreign country in a game primarily played to build fitness isn't the end of the world, although by glancing through a selection of Tweets form last night, you'd be forgiven for thinking it might be.
