With a third of the season gone, the Derby Telegraph have put together a comprehensive list of stats to show who is doing what for Gary Rowett's side so far this term.

While stats do not tell the whole story of course, they are a fairly useful indicator of who is pulling their weight and who Rowett should be wrapping in cotton wool and praying does not pick up an injury.

You don't get out of the second tier without goals and assists and one man finds himself at the top of the Rams' list for both - Matej Vydra.

The Czech hitman has bagged six goals this term, over a quarter of Derby's overall tally of 23, despite struggling slightly with fitness issues at the start of the season.

The former Watford striker is also laying on goals for his teammates and none of Rowett's squad can boast more than his two assists. On top of that, he has also made 11 other chances for his colleagues in just 11 league appearances.

Elsewhere, there are clear leaders in both the crosses and passes completed categories. Tom Lawrence, who also tops the list for chances created with 19, has swung in over three times as many crosses as the man in second place, with a whopping 87 crosses compared to Tom Huddlestone's 25.

Huddlestone himself is the runaway leader in terms of passes, as you may expect from a player of his ilk, playing 859, nearly 200 more than Richard Keogh in second place.

The Verdict:

Stats do not tell the full story but it is clear just how important Vydra is for Rowett, who has just been named Manager of the Month, if Derby are to sustain a promotion push.

Other players such as Sam Winnall, Bradley Johnson and David Nugent are all chipping in with goals but the former Birmingham boss will want to see more from around the team, especially if the Czech's injury problems return.

He may also want more than two assists from Lawrence to show for 87 crosses into the box!
