Derby County bounced back from their unlucky League Cup exit to Chelsea in midweek to continue their fine form in the Championship with a win over Birmingham City.

The Rams stayed in fifth and extended their unbeaten run to six matches after coming from a goal behind to see off a gallant Garry Monk side.

Lukas Jutkiewicz opened the scoring for the visitors after ten minutes before three goals in 20 second-half minutes blew them away in what was a relentless display at Pride Park on Saturday.

One player who typified Derby’s display was the in-form Jack Marriott.

Having starred in recent weeks in the league and cup, the 24-year-old striker has been in mercurial form and has been a constant problem of opposition defences.

And he shone brighter than most in the win over the Blues with an impressive individual performance that enhanced the team's overall output levels after going a goal down.

Marriott scored one goal from his six shots during his 90 minutes before coming off in added time.

Half of those were on target with two off and one blocked in the win with the striker having 35 touches.

That equated to 1.4 per cent of Derby’s overall possession, and with that possession, Marriott managed to complete nine of his 12 passes.

One of those was a key pass to give the Rams a chance on goal - that capped off a pass success rate of 75 per cent.

As Marriott likes to do, he gets the ball down and drove at the opposition defences, but he only managed that twice at the weekend, with just the one being successful.

It is not only on the ball that the Derby man is impressive, his quality off it too lead from the front and offer Frank Lampard’s side a chance at winning the ball back early has made him an impressive performer as of late.

When he is in form, he is in form in all aspects of his game - with and without the ball - and in front of goal, too.

The stats back up why he was a key man in the win and one of the catalysts as to why the Rams were able to rally from a goal down to see off the charge of Monk’s men at Pride Park last Saturday.

His perseverance was pivotal to the win and has been to their recent upturn in form.
