Sheffield Wednesday are lining up a move for free-agent Ahmed Musa, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Tony Pulis is keen to bolster his side's attacking options after recently losing loanee Jack Marriott to injury.

And according to O'Rourke, free-agent Musa is on the Owls' radar, with the 28-year-old recently leaving Al-Nassr.

Musa - who has scored 15 goals in 87 games for Nigeria - has played in England before, scoring five goals in 33 games for Leicester City.

Here, we discuss whether Musa would be a good signing for Wednesday or not...

Phil Spencer

This could prove to be an excellent signing.

Given Sheffield Wednesday's struggles at the moment there's no doubt that Tony Pulis will be looking to improve the team as soon as possible.

With Musa being available on a free transfer it means that he could join before January which would be a big boost.

With pace to burn, there's no question of what the former Leicester man would offer the club.

The only question mark is over his salary expectations, as there's a big chance that he could prove to be too expensive for a Championship club.

George Dagless

Time will tell.

He's obviously available on a free so could bring an instant impact for little cost but we'll have to see which Musa rocks up.

At times at Leicester I thought he looked a really handy player with explosive power and pace in the final third but there was also a real element of him failing to really convince regularly.

I think if Pulis can get the best out of him it might be worth a go but in all fairness you have to say it is a gamble.

No cost in terms of a transfer fee, though, so perhaps that makes it viable.

On paper, given the position that Sheffield Wednesday currently find themselves in, who're they to turn their noses up at a player that has racked up almost 100 international caps for Nigeria, and is approaching 100 goals at club level.

But Musa has spent the best part of three seasons playing in Saudi Arabia, and at just 28-years-old, you have to ask yourself why? It was probably a financial decision, so is this the kind of addition that the Owls want to be making?

Whilst the attacker certainly impressed me at the 2018 World Cup, his spell at Leicester was disappointing, so I think Tony Pulis should be looking to remain clear of him and be looking towards players with more experience in English football.
