Cardiff City have had a steady start to the season with the win at the weekend over Middlesbrough putting Neil Warnock's side in 13th spot in the Championship, five points adrift of the league leaders.

Warnock is looking to strengthen his squad though with winger Randell Williams of Exeter City a target, according to TEAMtalk, though the Bluebirds face competition from Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and QPR.

So would Williams be a good fit at Cardiff City and is he actually needed?

We discuss........

Ned Holmes

"This could be an interesting addition.

"Cardiff have got some talented wingers in their side but at the moment things are really clicking for them.

"Williams has been fantastic for Exeter this season, adding three assists and helping the club climb to the top of League Two.

"There will be question marks over whether the 22-year-old is ready for the Championship, having never played at that level before."

Alfie Burns

“We’ve seen Warnock have success with this type of signing before and you can see why Williams would be a hit in Cardiff.

“Warnock’s style can be direct at times, but there is an emphasis on his wingers getting through a lot of work, with his best squads having useful options out wide.

“With three assists and his best years ahead of him, Williams could be a big hit under Warnock, but there are concerns.

“He’s young and the step from League Two to the Championship is a big one, but you can see why Cardiff, along with half the second-tier, are interested.”

Chris Thorpe

"It is hard to say whether Cardiff really need to bring in a player in the mould of Randell Williams.

"From one perspective, the signing would make a lot of sense as the Cardiff strikers have been severely lacking adequate service this season, leading to a lack of goals from that area of the team.

"Williams would provide good back up to the likes of Hoilett and Murphy etc, however I do not believe he would be starting games as soon as he walks through the door.

"This is a signing that could be beneficial for Warnock, however I think Cardiff need to prioritise strengthening other areas of their team come January."
