Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi is looking to add to his squad this month, with a move for Sheffield United midfielder Luke Freeman being considered, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter, after the 27-year-old has failed to secure a regular spot in Chris Wilder's side.

Freeman joined the Blades in the summer from QPR after 18 months at Loftus Road signing a three-year contract at Bramall Lane, but has found appearances hard to come by that has increased speculation that he could be keen on moving on, in search of first team football.

So would Freeman be a good fit at the City Ground and would he get into Lamouchi's starting XI?

We discuss.........

Dean Cooke

“This would be a really good signing for Forest and could be a massive one in terms of their future ambition of getting to the Premier League.

“Freeman was superb during his time at QPR and was easily one of the best players in the division. He’d provide a bit more creative to this Forest side, who at times are very rigid and lack flair.

“There’s no denying that so far this campaign, Forest have been very good and deserve to sit as high as they are in the table. However, their defensive play has outshine their attacking prowess and Freeman could be someone who is able to even that out and create more chances for the Reds.

“He’d get into the XI and is better than both Tiago Silva and Joao Carvalho. What he has that they both don’t have is consistency with his performances, which is so crucial at Championship level.”

Phil Spencer

“This could be an excellent move for Nottingham Forest.

“The Championship side are crying out for some creativity in midfield and the Sheffield United man is undoubtedly an excellent option.

“Luke Freeman was one of the most efficient creative forces in the Championship during his two and a half years with Queens Park Rangers, with his ability to create space and pick out players from set pieces being a real plus.

“It was that which earned him a move to the Premier League – a move which, in truth, has been a big step up.

“Sheffield United’s over-achievement has made things difficult for Freeman and while he won’t want to give up his Premier League dream too easily, a move to Forest could be ideal for him.”

Jacob Potter

“I think he’d be an excellent signing for Nottingham Forest.

“I still think they’re one or two signings away from being the ‘finished article’ in the Championship this season.

“I’m still not convinced that Joao Carvalho can be that player to provide the creative spark this term, so they’re making the right call in targeting Freeman before the January transfer window closes.

“Freeman scored nine goals and was on hand to provide eight assists for QPR in his last season in the Championship, so he’s got a proven record in the second tier.

“Forest already have a goalscorer in the form of Lewis Grabban, and if they had a creative midfielder such as Freeman, then I think they’ll be challenging for an automatic promotion place this season.

“He would be the missing piece in the promotion jigsaw for Nottingham Forest this season if he arrived at the City Ground.”
