Sunderland continued their march towards promotion last weekend with a 2-0 win against Plymouth Argyle at the Stadium of Light.

They remain in third place but just two points behind Barnsley and with a game in hand over the Tykes.

However, it was some early transfer news that emerged from the club on Tuesday afternoon as they took two players on trial.

Borg, 19, has arrived from Peterborough United and Berkoe, 17, from Wolves as Jack Ross looks to find a bargain after splashing out in the January window.

Borg turned out three times for the Posh, all from the bench, before being sent out on loan to non-league St. Neots Town.

Right-back Berkoe has played nine times for the Premier League club’s under-18 outfit, catching the eye of Sunderland scouts along the way.

But is this a smart move from the club?

We discuss...

George Harbey

"This could be a shrewd move by Sunderland.

"Borg and Berkoe look to be really talented players on paper - the latter is really impressing for Wolves and looks to be a real talent especially.

"Sunderland have a plethora of talented youngsters coming through the ranks, and the future is certainly bright at the Stadium of Light."

Jacob Potter

"They're both exciting talents.

"The pair have to be highly-rated if they've played for Wolves' youth teams, and I think they can be useful to Jack Ross' first-team in the near future.

"Taking them on trial at first is a smart bit of business as it's a risk free move."

Louie Chandler

"It seems like a smart move.

"It is not going to be costing them anything to take the pair on trial so why not? If they turn out to be brilliant players, if not, there has been no loss.

"They are both highly rated, so who knows what will come of it."
