Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Bristol City left back Lloyd Kelly, the exciting 20-year old left back currently causing a stir at Ashton Gate.

Kelly has recently stepped up from the England Under 20 side to the Under 21s and has 18 appearances to his name for his club this season.

He's been attracting interest from many quarters, but it appears Liverpool could be ready to take him to Anfield.

Anfield is a long way from Ashton Gate and whilst potential is one thing, the more likely route for Kelly would be the Liverpool Under 23 team, followed by a loan spell before getting anywhere near the number 3 shirt for the Reds.

Still, he's being touted as a possible target, whatever the future may hold. Would it be a good move for Klopp's side though, or is there little value in hoarding the youngster when his immediate development might be best served at his current club?

Our Football League experts discuss a possible Premier League move for Lloyd Kelly.

George Harbey

This comes as no surprise at all.

Kelly has been magnificent for Bristol City this season and has already made an impact on the international stage, captaining the England under-20s.

Liverpool would be a perfect move for the youngster.

George Dagless

I don't see it myself.

I think Kelly is a decent player and definitely one for the future but could he make the step up to Liverpool?

It would be worth him staying at Ashton Gate for now where he is guaranteed those all-important minutes.

Jay Taylor

What is it with Bristol City and having quality full-backs?

Lloyd Kelly has been impressive this season and Liverpool are no strangers to signing young players from the lower leagues.

You look at Joe Gomes who has impressed since moving from Charlton, and they could well have another gem should they move for Kelly.

It would be a great move for the club and the player and one they should certainly look to finalise either next month or in the summer.
