Sheffield Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood was forced off in the first-half of their game against Swansea City this evening.
The Irishman had been regarded as one of the top stoppers in the Championship over the years, but he was frozen out under former boss Garry Monk.
That decision was a controversial one, with fans often calling for the former Sunderland man to return when results went against the Owls. Whilst Monk stood firm, Tony Pulis restored Westwood to the XI as soon as he took over.
However, the keeper had no luck tonight, as he picked up what appeared to be a groin injury in the early stages against the Swans.
Of course, it’s far too soon to know the extent of Westwood’s injury but it’s not what Pulis needs ahead of a busy schedule. Having waited for almost a year to get his chance, it was also tough for the player.
