Hull City’s new manager Leonid Slutsky has only just started in his role but he has already been thrown into the deep end in terms of transfer activity.
Hull face a mass exodus with the likes of Josh Tymon, Andrew Robertson, Kamil Grosicki, Harry Maguire, Sam Clucas, Tom Huddlestone and others all possibly set for the exit door this summer.
Leonid Slutsky will already be running the rule over his squad and working out which positions he needs to bolster this summer.
He is likely to have a decent war chest given the parachute payments received from relegation and from the sale of some of their stars.
However, Slutsky has openly admitted that he will be dipping into the loan market and he will ask his friend Roman Abramovic – owner of Chelsea – for some of their starlets.
There are plenty of talented stars in Chelsea’s ranks but Slutsky should be pushing the boat out to try to secure a loan deal for Lewis Baker.
Lewis Baker is an extremely talented young central midfield who has a great passing range and an eye for goal.
The England under-21 international is unlikely to break into the Chelsea first team next season and may need one more year out on loan with Hull City being a possible destination.
Hull could offer him regular first team football and Baker could be the man to lead their promotion charge.
A successful season in the Championship with Hull would mean that Antonio Conte cannot ignore the 22-year-old for much longer.
