As Championship opening weekends go, you couldn't have got much better than what Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock saw as his side beat Burton Albion 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Bluebirds, buoyed by some good pre-season signings and their ability to keep hold of most of their best players, travelled to the East Midlands hoping for an opening three points that would get their season off to a positive start.

And that's exactly what they did and it was more-or-less the complete away performance.

A clean-sheet, no injuries and a game decided by a late goal from nonw other than Kenneth Zohore, who's stock market continues to climb in South Wales.

The Danish U21 international has been ticking away at Cardiff since he made the move back in 2016 and he finished last season very strongly indeed.

And it seems he's had no difficulty in bringing that season back to the Bluebirds first-team in the season opener, causing the Burton backline difficulties all afternoon.

But it was his goal in the 87th minute that was the highlight of his game.

He held off two Burton defenders to curly home a delightful winner, much to the delight of the 1500 travelling supporters who are probably beginning to realise how important Zohore will be during this season.

Not only is he quick, knows where the net is and is hard-working- he can also bring his team-mates into the game with relative ease too. Junior Hoilett and Lee Tomlin played either side for most of the game and it looked extremely solid indeed.

With Zohore playing upfront, Cardiff are a side that might be real underdogs for the play-offs. It'll be tough but don't rule them out in the slightest. Warnock knows what he's doing at this level.
