It is shaping up into a huge second-half of the season for Birmingham City, who for a second year running, find themselves fighting relegation in the Sky Bet Championship after a difficult start.

Steve Cotterill’s side currently sit 23rd in the table, with only Burton Albion below them. The Blues have picked up just 24 points this season and have given supporters very little to cheer about, scoring just 16 goals – the worst record in the division.

As a defensive unit, the Blues are solid enough, but going forward, they need more ahead of the second-half of the season.

Here at FLW, we believe Cotterill needs to make an ambitious move to secure a deal for Callum O’Hare, the young Aston Villa forward who is building an exceptional reputation at Villa Park.

O’Hare has featured in just a handful of first-team games for Villa, with Steve Bruce seemingly reluctant to hand the 19-year-old too much trust as his side go fighting for promotion.

However, in Villa’s youth team, O’Hare has been in phenomenal form over the last 18 months, particularly this season, with the under-23 captain scoring his eighth of the campaign last night against West Bromwich Albion.

O’Hare is on the fringe of Villa’s first-team, but would be right in the mix just down the road at St Andrew’s and a player that Cotterill could do little else but put faith in.

The 19-year-old is capable of playing in an attacking midfield role, and has the potential to solve Birmingham’s creative  problems going forward.

It would be a brave move from O’Hare, but if he took the step across Birmingham on a temporary deal, it could work wonders for his career, as well as the Blues in the short-term and Villa in the long run.
