The Championship has seen many clubs acquire high calibre players, however, for Derby County that is not the case having lost two of their key assets to the Premier League this summer.

Gary Rowett is expected to somehow form a play-off challenge but it will be an enduring task with steady midfielder Will Hughes and creative wide-man Tom Ince no longer at the club - and the Rams at yet to invest that money back into the playing squad.

They should start considering long-term solutions and that is why, in my opinion, the club could pick up an absolute bargain by snapping up the signature of Ipswich Town's £850,000-rated winger Grant Ward.

Having initially joined the Tractor Boys on a permanent basis last summer from Tottenham Hotspur, Ward certainly hit the ground running after netting a hat-trick on the opening day of the campaign and his debut for the club.

The 22-year-old has struggled since to re-capture that early, impressive form and it may very well be due to the fact that the chances he's putting on the plate, just cannot be matched by the strikers alongside him.

Grant Ward's six goals and three assists can prove that and a move to Derby County may wholeheartedly improve his overall performance, and become a firm fan favourite at Pride Park for many years to come.

For the money the Rams should have in the bank, this man would definitely be affordable for the Championship outfit and go a long way to solidifying their promotion bid for the 2017/18 campaign.

Derby County supporters, do you need a Tom Ince replacement? Would Grant Ward fill the void? Can the winger become a hit at the club if a deal went through? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below!
