It just isn't Leeds United's year in terms of injuries - is it?

Key injuries to several important players has had a huge impact on the Whites' form - they were flying before the likes of Kemar Roofe, Luke Ayling and Pablo Hernandez all spent time on the sidelines with injury, and that's only to name a few players too.

The latest blow that United have been dealt with is that Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman has had to return to Stamford Bridge, after breaking his leg in an Under-23 fixture last week.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper made only two appearances during his short-lived spell at Elland Road, but this now means yet another straining impact on Leeds' squad depth.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell is now left as the club's only remaining senior goalkeeper, however, the 22-yeaR-old has looked shaky in recent weeks, and young goalkeeper Will Huffer isn't really rivalling him competition-wise.

Sure, the emergency loan window is available for Leeds to sign someone on a short-term basis, but they really do need long-term back-up with the squad as depleted as it currently is.

With that being said, here, we take a look at why Marcelo Bielsa should definitely be looking at Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood.

The 34-year-old hasn’t played a game for the Owls since last December under Jos Luhukay, and looks extremely likely to move away from Hillsborough in January.

The Republic of Ireland has fell down the Wednesday pecking order behind Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith, but many Wednesday fans want the experienced keeper back between the sticks with Wednesday keeping just one clean sheet in 17 Championship games this term.

Westwood is a popular figure at Wednesday having made over 140 appearances for the club, and is an astute, talented goalkeeper at this level, and despite coming into the latter stages of his career, he'd add experience, knowhow and stability in between the sticks.

He will be available for practically nothing in January, and Leeds should definitely be weighing up a move for him…
