Hull City were recently hit with some devastating injury news which could impact drastically on their promotion hopes.

Leading marksman Abel Hernandez, who had already netted a hat trick this season, has suffered an Achilles injury and he is likely to be sidelined for six months or so.

Hernandez sustained the injury in Hull's midweek loss to Wolves and Hull's hopes of competing for promotion have been dented unless they can bring in a viable replacement quickly.

There are just two weeks left in the transfer window and time is running out for the Tigers.

Leonid Slutsky will undoubtedly be looking around for forwards to target and Benik Afobe should undoubtedly be on his list.

Benik Afobe is not the first choice at Bournemouth and he has dropped down the pecking order even more since the arrival of Jermain Defoe.

Afobe might have started the opener but Eddie Howe is blooding Defoe in slowly and Josh King will also be preferred to the former Arsenal trainee.

Bournemouth also have Callum Wilson due to return from injury soon and he will be favoured up front too.

Benik Afobe is a proven goal scorer at Championship level.

Prior to his Bournemouth move, the 24-year-old netted 23 goals in 44 starts for Wolves and was a constant threat up top with his pace, power and energy.

At Hull City, Afobe could thrive and perhaps he needs a fresh start back in the Championship so that his career can kick on again.

The former England under-21 would be the ideal signing for Hull, who are now in need of a new forward.
