Since joining from Watford, Fernando Forestieri has quickly emerged as not only a fans’ favourite but as a talisman for the South Yorkshire side.
As one of Sheffield Wednesday’s consistent top performers in recent seasons, it’s difficult to quantify just how integral he has been to Sheffield Wednesday’s success.
Over the course of two seasons at Sheffield Wednesday, Forestieri has scored twenty-five times and provided ten assists from the deeper secondary striker position.
The 27-year-old forward was linked with a move to Championship rivals Derby County in the summer and it appeared that Forestieri may be interested in the move, however, Sheffield Wednesday remained resilient and staved off any interest in the Italian playmaker.
If Forestieri can replicate his goal scoring form from over the past season and a half, Sheffield Wednesday may face a real test to keep Forestieiri at the club.
