Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga is one of the most feared marksmen in the Sky Bet Championship and even though he hasn't quite hit top form since his serious injury a couple of years ago, he remains one of the Reds' very best players.

Despite a season in which he has struggled for form and fitness, he is still the club's leading goalscorer in the league with a decent nine goals and Forest will be hoping he can get up to his level best between now and the end of the campaign.

With Forest under a cloud of uncertainty off the football pitch it remains to be seen what might happen in the summer and although he only signed a five-year contract extension earlier in the season, there is still a possibility that one of the club's star players could be sold.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at two strikers who could replace the ex-Peterborough United striker should he be offloaded in the summer.

Nahki Wells

The Huddersfield Town striker is very similar to Assombalonga in terms of his style of play and the Bermudan international would be a quality replacement for the Forest striker.

Wells has also netted nine times this season and his turn of pace and superb movement off the ball make him an absolute nightmare for defenders to play against.

Forest would have to spend big to secure the services of the Terriers' player and the majority of the cash raised in selling Assombalonga would need to be used if the club pursued Wells.

Tomer Hemed

The Israeli striker has been forced to play second fiddle to Glenn Murray during this season and if Brighton and Hove Albion secure a place in the Premier League, his chances of first-team football will probably be even more restricted.

A move back to the Championship would be ideal for Hemed and his Championship quality would make him a quality addition to the Forest squad for next season.

The signing of the big striker would be a long shot but he is exactly the sort of players that Forest should be looking to secure if they become available at any point.
