Charlton Athletic have had a poor start to the 2021-22 season, and it hasn't helped with not having one of their more consistent and influential players available.

Jake Forster-Caskey has been an Addick since 2017 yet has only played just over 100 league games for the club since his arrival five years ago.

That's because several injuries have hampered his time at The Valley - notable two knee injuries with the first occurring in 2018.

Forster-Caskey missed almost the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign, appearing just once but Charlton kept the faith and kept him around for the following season.

He missed large chunks of that season though and was restricted to just 10 Championship outings but 2020-21 was more successful for him, playing 34 times in League One right up until he suffered another knee issue in the penultimate fixture of the season against Lincoln City.

It's one that's kept him out of action since April but in promising news, Forster-Caskey is now back running on the pitch at the training ground almost six months later as seen in an update issued by the club.

Charlton fans have been reacting to this development with delight on social media - check out what they've been saying below.
