‘The celebrations just keep on getting better’ – Ipswich fans react to player’s message

Ipswich couldn’t have started the year any worse after being smashed 4-1 away at Craven Cottage, as they suffered another dent in their push for the play-offs.
Ipswich Town will have fancied themselves to challenge for a play-off spot at the start of the season after acquiring Martyn Waghorn, Dominic Iorfa and Joe Garner prior to this campaign.
However, this isn’t how things have turned out as they now find themselves in a less than convincing position in 12th place, 7 points off Leeds occupying the last play-off place.
Although things may not be perfect at Portman Road, the signing of Martyn Waghorn in the summer has certainly reaped its rewards for The Tractor Boys. The striker has produced 10 goals and assisted 9 for his teammates in the process, with one of the assists coming last night, in what’s been an incredible return from the former Rangers man.
Indeed, after seeing himself struggle to find a way past Marcus Bettinelli last time out. Waghorn took to his personal Twitter account (@MWaghorn33), to provide a message for supporters that saw him reassure fans, while welcoming back his fellow teammate Luke Hyam from injury.
Disappointing result tonight.. thought the lads worked tirelessly for the full 90 minutes.
Need to keep our heads up and move on to the next one ????????????⚽.
Great to see @LukeHyam19 back on the pitch too ????????????????.Thank you for the away support, brilliant tonight ????????????????

Following the striker’s post, fans delivered a mixed response. Although, they thanked the player for his efforts, and insisted that the future looks bright.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at exactly what Ipswich supports, and a player made of the post…

Lads all worked hard – well done. Just shows how a moment of madness can change a game but onwards and upwards to the next game, let’s move forward now. ⚽️????⚽️. #somuchloveforthisclub – my autistic son loves you guys.

Really tough watch tonight Waggy. It’s been a hard festive period with 3 poor performances in a row. We are behind all of you lads but things have to improve or it’s gonna be a slippery slide to oblivion I’m afraid #itfc ????⚪️????⚪️

Another great free kick, individual errors cost us so many points.

Working tirelessly means nothing if the team defends as poorly as we have done. What does MM teach in training, because it doesn’t look like it’s anything along the lines of defending and passing. The sooner he’s gone the better
