Football League World's Reading fan pundit Nathan Cole does not believe that manager Jose Gomes will be feeling the pressure just yet, despite a shoddy run of form.

The Royals have lost four of their last five second tier matches with a 4-1 hammering from Fulham the latest blow and are without a win since the end of August and although Cole thinks he should be given time, he is also aware that things change quickly in football.

"I don’t think Gomes will be worried about his job yet," the regular punter told Football League World.

"At the start of the season this team were playing well and we are going through a bad patch. Tuesday night's result wasn't helped by playing 75 minutes with 10 men either.

"I don’t think he is under pressure but if we lose heavily at Bristol City on Saturday things could changed.

"But the board should give him to Christmas as injuries and always changing the team hasn’t help so I will give Gomes time to turn round this bad form which I do expect him to do."

"The biggest concern for me is since Miazga got injured at Huddersfield we haven’t won a league game and Gomes can’t decide whether to play three at the back or four at the back or who to play up front as he keeps switching it."

Gomes arrived at the Madejski Stadium in December last season, replacing Paul Clement who had dragged the club into a serious relegation scrap.

But the 49-year-old inspired an escape, leading them to safety, and with 36 games now managed in Berkshire, he boasts a points-per-game total of 1.14.

However, they now sit back in the mire, perched just one place above the drop zone with just two points separating themselves from third-bottom Barnsley.
